We were supposed to head home on Friday but we asked my mom if we could stay longer. She said we could as long as we did our homework (reading our book). We tried to stay at Planet Hollywood but they wanted as much for Friday night as we paid for five nights. We found a deal at one of the downtown Las Vegas hotels so we stayed two more nights.
I had searched Groupon before we left for deals and found one for the National Atomic Testing Museum. It was very interesting and a little scary.
At the end were pieces of the World Trade Center and the Berlin Wall.
Our new hotel was the Plaza at the end of Fremont Street. Our view was not as nice as the previous view and the room wasn’t as fancy either but it was clean and newly remodeled. We had to valet park the truck since it wouldn’t fit in the parking garage.
We headed over to Fremont Street to check it out. The old time Vegas lights were a much different scene from the fancy signs on the strip.
All of the sudden a massive wind and rain storm came in. We headed back to the room and spent some time taking pictures of the rain and trying to catch a picture of lightning (we got 1 picture out of about 30).
After the rain stopped we went back over to Fremont Street. On the hour they have the Fremont Street Experience which is basically a music video projected above your heads and all the way down the block. The first one we saw was a tribute to Queen.
The second one we saw was a tribute to The Doors.
There was a band covering 90s music.
It was also SantaCon. We missed the memo.
Looking back at the hotel from Fremont Street. We figured out from the picture in our room that the circular lighted piece up front used to have the swimming pool on top of it.
