Camping at Larson Ridge—Memorial Day
We went up to Larson Ridge, outside of Payson, on Saturday to camp with some of our Church friends.
One of the highlights of the day was catching horny toads. The little ones were easy enough for the kids to catch (Mommy’s horny toad catching days are over). Ellie named her’s Sarah and it was her pal all day even after it decided to bite her thumb. Nate wasn’t nearly as attached to his horny toad. We tried to catch a bigger one but it kept hissing at us so the kids didn’t want to pick it up. We took many walks over the weekend to look for horny toads.
On one of our walks we discovered a large tree that had fallen over a pond. It used to be a hunting perch but now the stand is in the water. We had fun climbing on the big tree.
Playing with the kids.
Oops! Something is missing from the back of the Jeep. This is what happens when a loose rock kicks up from another car into your rear window.
Eve is happily kissing herself in the mirror in the trailer.
Nate and Ella found a caterpillar. It is now in a chrysalis in his bug catcher at our house.
Hanging out and playing games.
Ellie loved the Faber’s trailer. Everything they had was her favorite! She loved this lounge chair and was so cozy she fell asleep in it.
Ellie borrowed Andrea’s sunglasses and Nate stole Mommy’s sunglasses.
Taking a bumpy wagon ride but they enjoyed it.
This is the view from just past our trailer. This is why it is called Larson Ridge. There is a canyon back there.
Eve’s food truck.
What camping trip would not be complete without lots of playing in the dirt!? The kids have to make sure they are good and dirty for the trip home.
