Field Trip

Nate went on a field trip to Desert Botanical Gardens on Friday. He loved it! He came home with a journal which has been his constant companion since he got home. He learned about roots of the mesquite tree, the inside of a saguaro cactus, and how an agave plant gets food and made a paint brush out of the agave plant. He insisted we had to go to the desert so he could show us what he learned. We headed out to the desert (aka the front of the clubhouse). Nate also insisted that he needed to wear his cowboy costume so Ellie needed to wear a costume also.

Meet D.E. Trash Picker Upper

Nate’s school project was to design a robot out of trash. Nate loved this project! His robot was named D.E. (according to Nate this is an abbreviation for robot) Trash Picker Upper. His job is to pick up trash. He has a sweeper as one hand and a scoop as the other hand.
