Mother’s Day

The three girls were asked to hand out the Mother’s Day flowers at church this morning. They did a wonderful job!

We went to Firehouse Subs for lunch and then came home for naps.

After naps (Eve and parents) we headed to the pool. The kids had a great time. We were not willing to go in the water yet because it is not warm enough for us. The kids were shivering at some points but insisted they were not cold.

Daddy pulled Ellie’s tooth out. She was very sad because she wants to keep all her baby teeth. Nate wrote a note from Ellie to the tooth fairy to ask the tooth fairy to leave her tooth. We told her the tooth fairy doesn’t leave as much money when she doesn’t take the tooth but she didn’t care. She keeps telling me the tooth fairy isn’t real and that she knows it is me. I keep trying to play it off. She is only on her second lost tooth and she has already figured it out. I asked her why she thinks that and she said because fairies aren’t real. She is too smart!

Birthday Party

Nate’s friend had a pool party on Saturday and Ellie also was allowed to come along. They had a great time swimming, having pizza and cake, shooting silly string, and having a water balloon battle. The best part is that it was in our complex so we could go home real quick if we needed to.

Caution Men at Work

Our laundry room pantry shelf has always been an eyesore and not extremely useful. It has been falling down on the left side for a long time. The first picture is before we moved in and the other pictures are from Saturday. It had migrated downward quite severely.

Paul is ready to dismantle the shelves.

My Dad and Paul dismantled the shelves and put up new IKEA cabinets with adjustable shelves. The new shelves are wonderful! They are sturdy and have more usable space. Thanks Dad and Paul!

We also finally hung up some pictures that I have been wanting to hang up for a while.

Big News!

As of Friday, May 4, Eve is pacifier free! We had just had dinner with our friends that are having a baby and we convinced her to give her pacifiers to their baby. I had read about convincing your child to give their pacifiers to another baby but I figured it would just make the child mad when the baby actually came because they took away their pacifier. However, the opportunity presented itself and I went with it. Eve found one of the small pacifiers (she has been calling them baby pacifiers because they don’t fit her mouth) and she brought it to me saying baby. Light bulb went off and I asked her if we should give it to Jenna’s baby. She said yes. She had two of her bigger pacifiers in her hands and immediately stuck one in her mouth. So I asked her should we give the one in your mouth to Jenna’s baby? She thought for well over a minute about that question complete with shifting eyes. Then she said yes and handed it to me. She stuck her other pacifier in her mouth and we went through the same thing. She gave that one up too. I quickly ran the pacifiers out of the room. We convinced her she was no longer a baby and that she was a big girl that doesn’t need pacifiers. Also, we told her Jenna’s baby would be very happy now that he had her pacifiers (people being happy is very motivating for her). She looked in her crib that night and said no wa-was (pacifiers) and she asked for the purple one (which we had not found yet) but we told her she was a big girl and she didn’t fuss. She has been pacifier free since then. I guess once she makes up her mind she is done.

Yesterday we found two more pacifiers and she exclaimed uh-oh! She went to put them in her bed and then stopped and ran to me as if they were evil and gave them to me. We packaged them up this morning in a gift bag and Eve proudly gave them all to Jenna for her baby.

Busy Day

After the model rocket launch in the morning last Saturday, we went to Lenarz’s house for a housewarming and birthday party. This picture is the only one we have from that party. Miren and Eve are great friends and they were sharing the towel.

After the party, we went straight to the church picnic at PCGS. We had a great meal and fellowship time. It was a fun but very busy day!

Model Rocket Launch

Nate’s Cadet club built model rockets in the fall and finally had a chance to shoot them off last weekend. When asked if his rocket went high he said no not really it was kind of like my Pinewood Derby car. I guess they had the wrong engines for it. Nate was most excited that his rocket almost landed in the back of Daddy’s truck.

Ellie’s Robot

In kindergarten they make a robot out of recycled items. They name it and describe what its job is. Ellie’s is named Lovey and her job is to love people by giving hugs and kisses.

Eve was being very naughty the other day and one of the things she did was make herself pretty with markers.
