Creative Uses of Stuff

At the children’s museum they are very creative. It reminded me (Mandy) of my brother, Nick, who has lots of doodads and used to make necklaces out of forks. Maybe Nick should take up doodad sculptures.

The main sculpture here is made of forks, knives, and spoons. The picture on the right is a bird with wings made out of butter knife blades. The other sculptures were made of other kitchen utensils/equipment.

Parts of the climber and things hanging outside the climber. The boat with the mannequin legs wearing crazy socks and Converse is especially for Nick.

This is a 3-story wall of hanging CDs. Eve liked this wall because the CDs would shine in the sunlight.

Children’s Museum of Phoenix

We spent a fun day at the museum before Nate goes back to school. Warning! There are a lot of pictures in this post.

Playing in the kitchen. They use fleece, lace, and rubber scraps for the food. They made pizzas and then Nate was serving salad to anyone that wanted some.

Playing in the market. I think they could have spent the whole day in the market and kitchen. Or maybe the climber.

 IMG_0815

The climber from the second floor. It is mostly made of steel, wood, and plastic.

Going up the zig zag. Ellie at one point was crawling along and wasn’t paying attention and she fell through the hole onto the next level. She scraped her side on the way down but she was ok. I think most of her crying was because she was surprised that she fell down.

The view from the bottom. Nate is standing on the platform in the middle of the picture.

IMG_0924

The view from the top. Anyone that knows me (Mandy) well enough knows that I don’t like walking over anything I can see through, well the floor in the climber is pretty much all see through. In order to make Ellie feel better I went up with her despite my uneasiness. I eventually made it all the way to the top after I decided not to look down. Ellie at one point, early on, had to be escorted down by a museum staffer because she got scared and started crying. The staff here were great.

Ellie finally got comfortable enough with the lower portion and was playing hide and seek with the other kids.
