We surprised the kids with a trip to California as their Christmas present. We didn’t even tell them that Oma and Opa were coming to Phoenix and then going with us. On Sunday, we had secretly packed the van so they wouldn’t figure it out early. On Monday, Nate had a doctor’s appointment so he wasn’t here when Oma and Opa got here. Ellie was very surprised that they were here and Nate was too, once he got home. We told them we were going to get some lunch. Ellie wasn’t sure she should believe us once she got in the car and saw pillows and blankets. They were excited that we were going to California although they weren’t sure what Knott’s Berry Farm was. However, they were very excited about getting to stay in a hotel.
It started raining at about 3:30pm and it rained all the way to Buena Park. Then it kept on raining for two more days. It was very unnerving when we had two occasions where cars had spun around and then their headlights were facing us. God was watching over us and we arrived safe and sound.
